This unique outdoor theater is the only naturally occurring, acoustically perfect amphitheatre in the world and has played host to a range of national and international musical acts since it opened as a theater in 1941. Outdoor Activities at Red Rocks Park
Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre is a favorite destination for hiking, biking and picnicking. Visitors can enjoy the 868-acre park, which offers everything from a leisurely stroll to a challenging hike on two trails that run through the park. The 1-½ mile long Trading Post Trail takes visitors past spectacular rock formations, through scenic valleys and into a natural meadow. The Red Rocks Trail is a 6-mile loop trail open for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. The trail splits to reach either Matthews-Winters Park or the Dakota Ridge Trail. Outdoor exercise enthusiasts will also enjoy the abundant stairs, benches and high altitude that offers a challenging workout for every age and activity level.
