Denver Zoo.

Established in 1896, the Denver Zoo is an 80-acre zoo located in the center of Denver's popular City Park. Visitors can see 4,000 different animals, representing over 700 species, with exhibits highlighting exotic animals like leopards, black rhinos, coral reef fish, elephants, zebras, vampire bats, gorillas, and Komodo Dragons, including some species that are endangered or even extinct in the wild. The animals are housed in naturalistic habitats that offer visitors a close-up view, while enhancing the lives of the animals. The Zoo's main entrance is located on 23rd Avenue between Colorado Boulevard and York Street. The Denver Zoo is open daily from 10am-5pm, Oct.1-March 31; 9am-6pm April 1-Sept 30. Museum of Nature and Science.

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science offers a wide variety of exhibitions, programs, activities, an IMAX theater, and a planetarium that is perfect for visitors of all ages. The Discovery Zone offers fun and educational, interactive exhibits for children. Extreme Ice is an exhibition of award-winning photography by James Balog, featuring some of the most beautiful environments on the Earth. The Egyptian Mummies exhibit features two mummies offering a look at how the ancient Egyptians preserved their dead. The Gems and Minerals exhibit re-creates the experience of a mine and offers an exhibit of crystals and minerals. The North American Indian exhibit highlights the Native American cultures. The Prehistoric Journey takes visitors on a voyage through time to trace the evolution of life on Earth. Space Odyssey allows visitors to explore the universe in a dynamic and interactive exhibition. The Wildlife Animals exhibit brings large and small animals to life through detailed dioramas. The Museum is open daily, except Dec. 25, from 9am-5pm.
